Which fabrics suit a classic roman blind?

The choice runs from thin sheers to blackout fabrics.

Sheer and semi-sheer fabrics let daylight in and give privacy by day. They suit a living room, an office or a child's room.

Dim-out holds back 70–85% of the light, which suits a bedroom that needs darkening but not complete darkness.

Blackout lets no light through the fabric, and how dark the room gets depends on the fitting and the overlap at the sides; for a bedroom, a child's room or a home cinema.

Why choose a classic roman blind?

The horizontal folds stack neatly when the blind is raised and lie flat when it is lowered. The fabrics run from sheers to blackout. The blind is compact and simple to fit and to look after.

It suits modern and traditional rooms alike. The blind is made to the measurements of your window, and the mechanism runs smoothly on a chain or an electric motor.

How is a classic roman blind fitted?

There are three ways to fit one, depending on the window and the room.

Inside the recess: the blind sits in the window opening, which gives a clean, minimal line.

On the wall: the blind overlaps the window at the sides and above, which keeps out more light.

On the ceiling: the blind hangs from the ceiling and makes the window look taller. It is a common choice for tall rooms.

Classic or another kind of roman blind?

A classic roman blind has a single layer and chain operation. If you want a day layer and a night layer on the same window, look at day and night roman blinds.

Measuring and fitting

The blind is made to the measurements taken at your window. Measuring is free in Vilnius. In Kaunas and Klaipėda it is free on orders of €200 or more. Elsewhere in Lithuania the visit is paid, and the price is agreed beforehand.

Questions

How do classic roman blinds differ from day and night roman blinds?

A classic roman blind has one fabric: sheer, dim-out or blackout. A day and night roman blind has two separate layers on one mechanism, a voile for the day and a blackout for the night. The classic blind is the simpler and cheaper of the two.

Are classic roman blinds suitable for a bedroom?

Yes, in a blackout fabric, which lets no light through; fitted on the wall with an overlap at the sides, the blind darkens the room almost completely. A dim-out fabric suits a room where complete darkness is not needed.

What mechanism do classic roman blinds use?

Chain operation as standard. An electric motor with a remote control or an app is also available.

How do I measure a window for a classic roman blind?

For a fit inside the recess, the fabric is 1–2 cm narrower than the width of the recess. For a fit on the wall, the fabric is 5–10 cm wider than the window on each side and extends above it.

Do you fit classic roman blinds across Lithuania?

Yes. Measuring and fitting are available in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda and other towns, on a schedule agreed with you.
