How well do outdoor curtains stand up to the weather?
The fabrics are made for outdoor use. They block harmful UV rays and do not fade in the sun, keep the rain out and dry quickly afterwards, and shelter the space from wind and draughts.
Acrylic or polyester for an outdoor terrace?
Two fabrics are used on terraces. Acrylic resists UV best and keeps its colour longest, so it suits a south-facing terrace that is in the sun all day. Polyester with a PVC or acrylic finish costs less and sheds water well. Some of these fabrics also carry a water-repellent coating, which should be renewed once a season.
How open the terrace is, and how much wind it takes, decide the fabric. On an open, windy terrace choose a more open mesh fabric: it lets some of the wind through and flaps less.
Fabrics, fixing against the wind and measuring an open terrace are covered in our guide, Terrace curtains for wind.
Where are outdoor curtains used?
On a terrace they give privacy and shade from the sun. In a gazebo they make the space feel like an outdoor room. On a pergola they are mainly decorative. On a balcony they give privacy and shelter from the wind. In an outdoor café they help set the atmosphere.
How are outdoor curtains fixed?
In one of three ways. On a pole, the classic option, in metal or wood. On a track, where the curtains glide easily and can close off the whole space. Or on stainless steel cables, the more modern fixing.
How do I look after outdoor curtains?
Care is simple: hose them down regularly, wipe stains with a damp cloth, take them down and store them somewhere dry for the winter, and check the fixings every season.
Measuring and fitting
Your terrace or gazebo is measured and the outdoor curtains are fitted anywhere in Lithuania.
