Curtains

Which curtain fabrics are the most popular? In practice it comes down to two groups: sheers, in voile-type fabrics, and lined curtains, in blackout-type fabrics such as double-sided blackout. Which one suits depends on the room and what you need.

How do I choose curtains to match the style of a room? Minimalist or Scandinavian: a plain, light fabric on a ceiling track. Classic: a wall pole, a stronger texture and accessories. Curtains cover a large area, so it is safer to choose a low-risk base and leave the accents to cushions and decor.

Which curtains protect best against the sun? Blackout lined curtains, fitted correctly, cut the most light and heat. In Lithuania this matters especially in summer because of the white nights. The colour of the fabric matters too: darker colours absorb more heat.

Which fabrics are friendly to people with allergies? Fabrics that are easy to clean often, without fluffy textures that collect dust. Synthetic fabrics are usually easier to care for than natural ones.

How do I choose between a pole and a track? A track is tidy and minimalist, and suits ceiling fixing and large picture windows. A pole is more of a design element, for when you want the fixing to be seen. For a sheer and a lined curtain, a double track usually makes sense.

Where can I find curtain making near me? In Vilnius the most realistic option is a home visit, with the fabric chosen and the windows measured. Enquiries from Kaunas, Klaipėda and other towns are accepted too, and a visit is arranged on a schedule.

How do I care for curtains so that they stay clean longer? Vacuum them regularly with a soft attachment: dust gathers faster than people think. In a kitchen choose an easy-care fabric. Sheers (voile-type) are usually easier to keep looking clean than heavy lined curtains.

Roller blinds

How do cassette and non-cassette roller blinds differ? Cassette roller blinds have a protective box (the cassette) that hides the rolled fabric and the mechanism. This looks tidier and protects the fabric better from dust. Non-cassette blinds are the more economical option, but the fabric stays exposed.

Do roller blinds suit a kitchen? Yes. They are compact and do not get in the way at the sill. Choose an easy-wipe fabric, and avoid the palest colours if you cook a lot.

How do day and night roller blinds work? A day and night blind has a double layer of fabric with alternating bands, transparent and opaque. By moving the fabric you adjust the light, from full privacy to the maximum of light.

Can a roller blind be fixed to the window frame? Yes. Many roller blinds can be fixed straight to the window frame without drilling, using special brackets. This is especially popular in rented homes. Not every window suits it, so we recommend a consultation.

Which roller blinds suit an office? Usually screen roller blinds: they filter the light and reduce reflections on screens, yet keep the view out. Dim-out roller blinds are also popular for meeting rooms.

Roman blinds

How do roman blinds differ from roller blinds? A roman blind is fabric with horizontal folds that stack neatly when the blind is raised. A roller blind simply rolls onto a tube. Roman blinds look softer and give more texture, but cost more.

Do roman blinds suit a bedroom? Yes. We recommend a blackout or dim-out lining, to make the room dark for sleep.

How do I care for roman blinds? Many roman blinds can be dry-cleaned. Some fabrics can be washed, but the mechanism has to be taken out. Vacuum regularly with a soft attachment so that dust does not build up.

Can I order motorised roman blinds? Yes, motorised roman blinds with remote control are available. They can be operated with a remote or a phone app, or joined to a smart-home system. This is especially convenient for windows that are hard to reach.

Blinds

How do venetian blinds differ from vertical blinds? Venetian blinds have slats that tilt horizontally and suit smaller windows. Vertical blinds have vertical slats and suit large windows and sliding doors. Both types let you set the light precisely.

Are wooden blinds suitable for a bathroom? No: natural wood does not suit damp rooms. For a bathroom we recommend faux wood blinds, a synthetic wood effect that resists damp and looks like real timber.

How do I clean blinds? Wipe the slats regularly with a damp cloth or a special blind-cleaning tool. Aluminium and plastic blinds clean easily; wooden ones need more care, so avoid too much moisture.

Do blinds protect against heat? Yes, blinds help regulate the temperature of a room. Pale colours reflect the sun's rays better. Wooden and faux wood blinds insulate better than aluminium ones.

Curtain poles and tracks

How do a ceiling track and a wall pole differ? A ceiling track is fixed to the ceiling, which makes the room look taller and gives a minimalist look. A wall pole is fixed above the window and is more visible, and it can be a decorative element. A ceiling track suits a contemporary interior, and a wall pole a classic one.

How do I choose the right length for the pole? The pole should be 20–40 cm longer than the window on each side. That way the open curtains do not cover the window and let in as much light as possible. The exact length depends on the wall and the window.

Can an electric track be used with a smart home? Yes, electric tracks work well with smart-home systems. They can be operated with the Brel Home app, which the maker's manual links to Siri, Google Home and Alexa: a Wi-Fi motor joins the app itself, and a Brel Home Box hub brings the other motors in. Automatic schedules can be set to follow sunrise.

How much weight can ceiling tracks carry? It depends on the profile, the number of brackets and the type of ceiling: the heavier the curtain, the closer together the track is fixed. Fixing into a plasterboard ceiling matters most, so the ceiling and the weight of the fabric are checked at measuring.

How an order runs

How does a consultation work? The consultation takes place at your home, or by e-mail. We discuss your needs, the interior and the budget, and make recommendations. A consultation puts you under no obligation to order; it just helps you decide.

Can I measure the windows myself? Yes, there is a detailed measuring guide with instructions. For non-standard windows, or if you want to be sure, we recommend professional measuring, which lowers the risk of mistakes.

How long does making take? From order confirmation to installation, curtains, roman blinds and other blinds take 3–4 weeks, and tracks 1–2 weeks. More complex projects can take longer. Urgent orders are arranged separately and discussed at the consultation.

Do you deliver and fit? Yes, as a full service: delivery, fitting and a final check. Fitting takes place at an agreed time, and the room is left tidy. You can also fit them yourself, and we provide instructions.

What warranty applies? Our warranty covers sewing and tracks for 12 months, and mechanisms and motors, electric ones included, for 24 months. The terms are on the warranty page. Our warranty does not limit your rights under Lithuanian law: the seller is liable for any lack of conformity that existed at delivery and becomes apparent within two years, and this applies to made-to-measure items and to fitting we carried out.

What payment methods do you accept? Goods bought online are paid at once by e-banking (MakeCommerce). An order placed on a quote is paid by bank transfer against a proforma invoice: a 50% advance when you confirm it, and the other 50% once the work is done.
