How the curtain visualiser works, and how to photograph your window
- From a photo of your window, a chosen fabric with its colour and a few options, an AI draws one picture of the curtains in your window.
- The picture shows a direction, not the exact shade, drape or size: the designer measures and shows the fabric samples.
- Photograph the whole window from the front, in daylight and in landscape, so that a little ceiling and floor show.
The visualiser helps you picture a chosen fabric and colour in your own window before anything is measured. This guide covers what it does, how to photograph the window so that the picture comes out closer to the real thing, and what the picture does not show. The tool's current state and terms are on the visualiser page; this guide describes how it works.
What is the curtain visualiser, and what does it not show?
It is a picture made by artificial intelligence (AI) that shows how a chosen fabric and colour could look in your window. It is a visual reference and a source of ideas. Every picture is marked as made by AI, and is never presented as a photograph of a real job.
| Shows | Does not show |
|---|---|
| The fabric's colour and a sense of its texture in your window | The exact shade: you will see it on a fabric sample |
| The heading you chose: pencil pleat, wave or pinch pleat | The exact number of pleats and the drape |
| The length: to the floor or to the sill | Exact dimensions and the amount of fabric |
| Curtains drawn open or closed | Light blocking, privacy and the price |
How does the visualiser work, step by step?
- 1Window photo: a photo of your window is uploaded (JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 10 MB).
- 2Fabric and colour: a fabric and its colour are chosen from the fabric palette; the colour's own photographed chip is used to reproduce it.
- 3Options: the heading (pencil pleat, wave or pinch pleat), the length (to the floor or to the sill) and whether the curtains are drawn open or closed are set.
- 4Picture: from these the AI draws one picture in your window.
- 5Changes: a change, for example longer curtains or another colour of the same fabric, edits the last picture, so the room and the window stay the same.

How do you photograph your window for the visualiser?
The photo decides whether the curtains in the picture land where they would in the room. What matters most is that the whole window and a little of its surroundings are in the frame.
- Photograph in natural daylight: colours and shadows look closer to real.
- The whole window with its frame and sill should show, with a little of the ceiling and a little of the floor.
- Use a landscape frame.
- Stand in front of the window and hold the phone straight, so that the window does not look tilted.
- If you can, draw back any existing curtains so that the shape of the whole window shows.
- Do not photograph straight into the sun: too much light bleaches the picture.

When can the picture differ from the real thing?
- The colour on screen differs from the fabricFix: Check the shade on a fabric sample.
Why
Screens show colours differently, and the AI only reproduces the colour. The designer brings a fabric sample to the measuring visit. - The pleats look different from how they will be madeFix: Discuss the heading and the fullness with the designer.
Why
The tape and the amount of fabric decide the pleats; how that works is covered in the guide to heading tapes. - Small details of the room differ in the pictureFix: Look at the overall picture: the colour, the length and the proportions, not the small details.
Why
The picture is an AI illustration, not a photograph. - The dimensions and proportions do not match the windowFix: Measuring sets the dimensions, not the picture.
Why
The curtain length and the amount of fabric are worked out from the measured window.
What comes next once you like the picture?
A picture is not an offer and does not replace measuring. Once the direction is clear, the next steps are these: the designer comes with fabric samples, measures the windows and prepares an offer. The measuring rules for each city are on the measuring page.
- The design consultation → the designer brings fabric samples
- Window measuring → the measuring rules
- How to choose a curtain colour → light, walls and a fabric sample
- How curtain prices are calculated → fabric needed and a worked example
What should you know about the tool's state and your photos?
The tool's terms, such as how you sign in, how many pictures you can create and how photos are kept, are on the visualiser page and in the privacy policy. If the page shows that the visualiser is not available right now, write to us in English and we reply by e-mail; the designer will prepare a visualisation for you.

On the visualiser page you choose a fabric and a colour, and the picture shows a direction before measuring.
Open the visualiser pageFrequently asked questions
Does the visualiser show the exact colour of the curtains?
No. The picture shows the direction of the colour, and screens show colours differently. You will see the exact shade on the fabric sample the designer brings to the measuring visit.
What window photo works best?
Photograph the whole window in natural daylight, in landscape, so that a little ceiling and floor show. A JPG, PNG or WebP file up to 10 MB works.
Is the picture an offer for curtains?
No. The picture is a visual reference. We prepare an offer and a price after measuring, from your window's dimensions and the fabric you choose.
Why is the picture marked as made by AI?
Because it is an illustration made by AI for visual reference and inspiration, not a photograph of a finished job. Every such picture is marked in this way.
What if the visualiser is not available?
Write to us in English and we reply by e-mail; the designer will prepare a visualisation for you. When the tool is not available, the visualiser page says so.
