Vertical blinds: 89 mm or 127 mm, home or office

Vertical blinds suit large windows and sliding door units. The louvres turn through 180° and come in widths of 89 mm and 127 mm, and prices start at €35 per m² (PVC), or €39 per m² for fabric. A home consultation with fabric samples is available, and the blinds are measured and fitted. From order confirmation to installation, blinds take 3–4 weeks.
In Lithuania they are a common choice for large windows and panoramic doors, and the designer helps choose the model.
Are vertical blinds right for a home, or only for an office?
Both. Modern vertical blinds are made from natural fabrics, have a subtle design and sit well in a living room, a bedroom or a workspace; their office-only reputation is long out of date.
| Advantage | Home | Office |
|---|---|---|
| Control of light | An exact angle in each room | Protects screens from reflections |
| Privacy | Adjustable during the day | Separates zones from view |
| Covering a large window | A good fit for panoramic windows | Suits floor-to-ceiling glass façades |
| Ease of care | Wiped with a damp cloth | Quick everyday care |
| Choice of fabric | Natural, textured fabrics | Technical, light-filtering fabrics |
At home, vertical blinds suit large windows and sliding door units best, where venetian blinds or curtains become awkward. In an office the main advantage is function: an exact angle of light protects screens from reflections, and the blinds are easy to clean and keep a tidy look for a long time.
89 mm or 127 mm louvres: which width to choose
Vertical blinds are made in two standard louvre widths, 89 mm and 127 mm. Each format has a clear purpose.
| Point | 89 mm louvres | 127 mm louvres |
|---|---|---|
| Suitable window width | up to about 200 cm | from about 180 cm |
| Look | Subtle, light | Substantial, monumental |
| Commonest use | Living spaces | Offices, panoramic windows |
| Precision of light control | Higher | Slightly lower |
| Ease of cleaning | Standard | Easier (fewer louvres) |
89 mm louvres suit most standard flat windows, bedrooms and children's rooms. 127 mm louvres suit large windows and offices: wider louvres keep a large area in proportion and are easier to clean under heavy use.
A practical rule
If the window is wider than 200 cm or the room is higher than 280 cm, 127 mm louvres give a better-proportioned look.

Open the price calculatorWhat decides the price of vertical blinds
Vertical blinds cost from €35 per m² (PVC), €39 per m² for fabric and €55 per m² for blackout or textured fabric; the final price depends on the material and extra features.
The size and area of the window is the most important factor in the price: the bigger the window, the more material and the longer the fitting. Non-standard formats are priced one at a time.
The type of fabric: standard polyester is the cheapest option; natural fibres, blackout materials or special coatings cost more.
The control: a chain is the cheapest. A motor or a smart-home link raises the price noticeably, but makes large windows easier to use.
Fitting: measuring and fitting the headrail properly avoids costly mistakes. The price of fitting depends on the number of windows and how complicated the fixing is.
An exact price can be fixed only after a consultation at home, when the windows have been measured and every specification agreed.

The designer brings fabric samples, measures the windows and prepares an exact quote. Measuring is free in Vilnius. In Kaunas and Klaipėda it is free on orders of €200 or more. Elsewhere in Lithuania the visit is paid, and the price is agreed beforehand.

Proper care decides whether vertical blinds still look tidy after a year or after ten.
- Dust — at least every 2–3 weeks with a soft cloth or the brush attachment of a vacuum cleaner, from top to bottom.
- Stains — with a damp microfibre cloth, from the edges to the centre; do not use solvents.
- Washing — fabric louvres can be washed at 30 °C on a gentle cycle; check the maker's label first. PVC and aluminium louvres do not need washing: a wipe with a damp cloth is enough.
- Drying — hang vertically, and do not tumble dry; if they have creased, iron through a damp gauze at no more than 110 °C.

What do vertical blinds cost in Lithuania?
From €35 per m² (PVC), €39 per m² for fabric and €55 per m² for blackout or textured fabric; the final sum depends on the material and the control. Budget PVC blinds are the cheapest, and motorised fabric or aluminium blinds the dearest. The final price depends on the size of the window, how complicated the fitting is and the supplier chosen.
Are vertical blinds right for a home?
Yes. Modern vertical blinds suit living spaces well, especially large windows and glazed door units. They are made from natural fabrics, which add warmth and texture, and the louvres can be turned through 180° to set the amount of light exactly. The construction is the same in office and home models; they differ in the type of fabric.
What is the standard width of vertical blind louvres?
The standard louvre widths are 89 mm and 127 mm. 89 mm louvres suit most windows in living spaces (up to about 200 cm wide), and 127 mm louvres suit large windows, panoramic glazing and office spaces (from about 180 cm wide). The choice depends on the size of the window and the look you want.
What is the difference between a ceiling fix and a wall fix?
With a ceiling fix, the headrail is fixed to the ceiling or above the recess, which looks more modern and makes the room look larger. A wall fix is made above the window frame and lets you control more exactly how much light comes in at the sides. The two are equal in function: the choice depends on the style of the interior and the construction of the window.
Which material is best: fabric, PVC or aluminium?
Fabric gives warmth and texture, so it suits living spaces best. PVC is economical and easy to clean, which suits offices or damp spaces. Aluminium is durable (it lasts up to 15 years) and suits commercial and industrial buildings. Choose by what the room is used for, how much control of light you need and how you can look after it.
How do I measure a window for vertical blinds?
Measure the exact width and height at the place of fitting, not on the outside of the window frame. Fix the brackets about 5 cm from the ends of the blind. If the blind is going into a recess, take 1–2 cm off the width on each side, so that the louvres move freely. The most accurate course is to leave the measuring to the designer.
How do I wash the louvres of vertical blinds?
Fabric louvres can be washed gently by hand, or in a washing machine at 30 °C on a gentle cycle; check the maker's instructions first. PVC and aluminium louvres do not need washing: a wipe with a damp cloth or a vacuum cleaner is enough. Dry them hanging vertically, not in a tumble dryer.
Can I order motorised vertical blinds?
Yes. Motorised blinds with app control are especially convenient on large windows or in places that are hard to reach. A motor raises the price noticeably, and lets the blinds link into a smart-home system. The price depends on the size of the window and the motor and controls chosen.
How long does making and fitting take?
Vertical blinds are made to the dimensions of each window; there are no standard sizes. From order confirmation to installation, curtains, roman blinds and other blinds take 3–4 weeks, and tracks 1–2 weeks. The time for fitting depends on the number of windows and how complicated the construction is: one room usually takes 1–2 hours.
Is there a warranty?
Our warranty covers sewing and tracks for 12 months, and mechanisms and motors, electric ones included, for 24 months. Our warranty does not limit your rights under Lithuanian law: the seller is liable for any lack of conformity that existed at delivery and becomes apparent within two years, and this applies to made-to-measure items and to fitting we carried out.
